The College was initially affiliated to Periyar University and is now presently affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. Set up with an objective of fulfilling the need of secondary level teachers in the region, the college offers a congenial atmosphere for the scholastic development of the students. Equipped with all the necessary infrastructural facilities, the self financed co-educational college is approved by the N.C.T.E (National Council for Teacher Education). AVS College of Education which is spread over an area of 7 acres of land works under the sponsorship and guidance of Om Sri Vivekananda Educational Trust.

Candidates with at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor?s Degree and Master?s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/ Humanity, Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualifcation, equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme.
