B.Borooah College, Dr. B.Baruah Road, Ulubari, Guwahati, Pincode 781007, Assam, IndiaB. Borooah College was established in the year 1943 in the name of Bholanath Borooah, a doyen of Assamese business and a close associate of Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah .It grew under the shadow of World War II and as a part of the nationalistic struggle against foreign rule. Classes (evening) started from 13th of September 1943 with 15 students in the premises of Kamrup Academy H.S. School. The pioneers of the college first started it as a night college in order to give an opportunity to the poor students to pursue their higher studies as they earned their livelihood during the day.The college has been associated with the names of many illustrious personalities. Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi, the first Chief Minister of Assam, was the first honorary Principal of the college. Charismatic Parliamentarian and a renowned man of letters, Hem Barua adorned the Principal’s chair for a long time. He was succeeded by Prof. Surendra Mohan Das, Dr. Promod Chandra Bhattacharya, Late Prasanna Kumar Sarma, Sri Dulal Chandra Borthakur, Sri H. C. Deka, Late D. K. Choudhury (in charge), Smti Bonti Choudhury (in-charge), Dr. (Mrs) Rekha Deka, Dr. Sunil Pawan Baruah (in-charge), Mrs Madhurima Das Deka (in-charge), Dr. Dinesh Baishya. At present Dr. Satyendra Nath Barman is serving as the Principal of this college.

Facilities
- Boys Hostel
The double storied building of College Hostel that exists was built in 1964 with the funds of the University Grant Commission, the Assam Government, and the college itself. Since then this hostel has been an important Centre for students coming from different parts of the region with a thirst for learning. The two stories R.C.C building comprises a total of 31 rooms that accommodate 122 borders of higher secondary, degree, and Master’s degree students of the college. The hostel has a managing committee, comprising the superintendent and faculty members of the college and headed by the Principal as president. Two monitors from final year degree students are appointed as the monitor of the ground and first floor to assist the superintendent of the hostel. A mess committee is also constructed each year to look after the mess and the entire internal matter of the hostel. - Gym
The institution has a well-equipped gymnasium hall with modern and sophisticated instruments. - Library
The College Library started its functioning in 1943 at Kamrup Academy School and later on shifted to the new building in the year 1958 and accommodated in the present building in the year 2000. In the same year, the library was renamed as "Hem Barua Library" after the name of its 3rd Principal late Hem Barua, a noted parliamentarian and educationist of the country. - Sports
A healthy mind lives in a healthy body”. Believing in the above adage the institution provides all kinds of encouragement and opportunities to the students to develop their proficiency in sports. Students of the college have proved their competence in sports like cricket, football, badminton, basketball, boxing, tennis, judo, body-building, and table-tennis both at the state and national levels. - Cafeteria
The College Canteen is running smoothly to provide food at a subsidized rate mainly to the college students and to the other college communities. The canteen is functioning from 6th April 2012. The canteen was inaugurated by Dr. Tabu Ram Said, president of the Governing body of the College. - Auditorium
The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. - IT Infrastructure
A Computer center is set up at the college campus. The basic objective of the center is to provide students with the college the basic knowledge of computers as well as certificate courses on Computer basics and computer languages. - Laboratories
The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students. - Convenience Store
The college has a stationery corner, located ar an easily accessible area near the entrance of the college, provides stationery items, books, magazines, and other necessary items. Photocopy and DTP facilities are also available for students and employees of the college at a reasonable rate.
