Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Vidya Vihar, Raebareli Road, Lucknow-226025, Uttar Pradesh, IEstablished in 1996, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University is commonly known as BBAU Lucknow. The university was established by an Act passed by the parliament (No. 58 of 1994). BBAU Lucknow is a central university recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). The university has been accredited by NAAC with a grade of ‘A’. In NIRF rankings 2021, the university has been ranked 65th in the university category. BBAU Lucknow has fourteen schools some of which are Ambedkar School of Social Sciences, School of Life Sciences, School of Information and Technology, School of Legal studies etc.
The university offers courses in the disciplines of humanities and sciences, engineering, agriculture, biotechnology, business, law, education and environmental sciences. BBAU Lucknow offers 97 courses that include UG, PG, doctoral programmes at its main campus and satellite campus at Amethi. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University has signed MOU’s with various other universities such as Integral University, Lucknow, NIPER Hyderabad, NIPER Raebareli etc. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University provides fee exemption for the students of the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes in regular courses. The total faculty strength at BBAU Lucknow is 163.

The university is located in Vidya Vihar, Raebareli Road, Lucknow. Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is the nearest airport located at a distance of 7.9 km. It will take 15 minutes to reach the university. Lucknow Junction is the nearest railway station located at a distance of 11.5 km. Students can reach the university from the railway station in 20 minutes. Students can take a bus from Lucknow Bus Stand located at a distance of 12 km. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University also offers transportation facilities for students who are enrolled as day scholars in the university and have to commute daily to attend classes.

Facilities
- Boys Hostel
BBAU Lucknow has separate hostels for boys. The university offers hostel facilities to meet the accommodation needs of the students. Students wanting to take admission in the hostel have to meet the set eligibility criteria. - Girls Hostel
The university has hostels for girls. Separate hostel facilities are provided for girls students. Candidates have to fulfil the eligibility criteria to get admission to the hostel. - Library
BBAU Lucknow has a huge library that follows the vision; promoting knowledge and understanding across all streams. BBAU Lucknow is known as Gautam Buddha Central Library which is a four-storey building with an area of 7,917 square metres. The library is divided into different sections: acquisition section, technical section, circulation section, periodical section, cyber section and thesis section. - Sports
BBAU Lucknow has a dedicated sports curriculum to promote sports and encourages students to participate in sports competitions and events. The main objective is to promote the importance of physical education and sports in students’ overall development. - Medical/Hospital
BBAU Lucknow offers medical facilities to students, staff and faculty members. The university has a health centre, established in 2005. The centre caters to all the medical requirements of members on the campus. - IT Infrastructure

The university has a guest house that offers accommodation facilities for guests who visit the university for official meetings such as guest lectures, seminars, workshops etc. BBAU Lucknow has one VIP suite and two VVIP suites consisting of all the premium facilities to provide a comfortable stay to the guests. - Banks Facilities
The university has a branch of Canara Bank which takes care of and meets all the banking facilities of the students. An ATM is also available near the canteen of the university for students, faculty and staff to withdraw cash in case of emergencies
