BHU Varanasi - Banaras Hindu University

The prestigious Banaras Hindu University was founded in the year 1916. It was formerly called The Central Hindu College.  Shri Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi soon became an institute of national importance. The 1300 acre campus is located in the Mirzapur district of UP.  The varsity has about 140 departments, 14 Faculties, Women's College, 4 Interdisciplinary Centres and also three constitution schools inside the premises. The Banaras Hindu University offers over 350 courses in total at various undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral levels. 

The Banaras Hindu University campus houses all the world-class amenities like hostels, library, sports complex, cafeteria, Hospital, auditorium, swimming pool, airstrip and helipad, bookstore, Shopping Complex, ATM, post office, bank etc are present inside the campus for students and faculty staying as residents of the BHU to use. The university also houses one of the best libraries of the country with over 10 lakh books, 1 Lakh journals, 400 current magazines and subscriptions. An e-Library with over 52000 e-books, journals and papers are available for reference in multiple disciplines at the library. Multiple hostel complexes can house together almost 30,000 students at the same time inside the BHU campus. The Shri Vishwanath Temple inside the campus is also one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city.

The  Banaras Hindu University has also been called  Institute of national importance and eminence by the HRD Ministry of the Government of India. It has been accredited with grade “A” by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) showing the quality education that is provided at the University. The professionals and qualified faculties at BHU provide the premier education that the BHU name is synonymous with. It has also ranked 10th in the overall category and 36 in the management category of the NIRF ranking. As per the NIRF ranking for the year 2021, the institute has been ranked 47th in the management category and 6th in the medical category. The institute has secured 10th rank in NIRF 2021 overall ranking. In the NIRF rankings of 2021, the university has been ranked 23rd in the law category. According to NIRF rankings 2021, the university has secured 14th position in the research category.  The university has secured 3rd spot in the university category in NIRF 2021 ranking. The institute has also arrived in the top and has been given 3rd rank for the fourth consecutive year by the national institutional ranking framework (NIRF)  in the University category for the year 2020. Admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses at BHU requires students to appear for a national level entrance conducted especially by the University called UET/PET. Other courses required there an excellent academic record, for the score for different entrance examinations as mentioned in the eligibility of each course.
