The institute was established by Bharathidasan who was a great poet and freedom fighter. The campus is spread over 18 acres of land. It is a private co-educational institute. Total 12 faculty members are available at the campus. BIM Trichy is affiliated to Bharathidasan University. The institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi.
BIM Trichy offers a postgraduate degree in Master of Business Administration (M.B.A). Situated in the BHEL campus, Bharathidasan Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli gives great exposure to the students. BIM Trichy provides different facilities such as a library, hostel, lab and many others. Scholarship and placement opportunities are also provided by the BIM Tiruchirappalli.

Tiruchirappalli International Airport is 13.6 km away and it will take around 25 minutes to reach the institute. Students can take a cab or a bus to reach the Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirapalli. The institute is well connected with all modes of transportation.
