The College was established in 1943 by the Deccan Education Society with a view to providing enlightened leadership and trained manpower in the field of commerce and business to the country which was on the threshold of independence. The college is affiliated with the University of Pune and has produced many notable leaders, businessmen and industrialists like Sharad Pawar, Cyrus Poonawalla & Sulajja Firodia.
Prof. D. G. Karve, a renowned Economist and some time Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India was the First Principal of the College. Situated at the foot of the rugged Fergusson College Hill and dotted with lush green trees and shrubs all around, it has a most picturesque and inviting atmosphere. BMCC has recently earned the award of ‘College with potential for excellence’ from UGC.

- Boys Hostel
The atmosphere of the hostel is calm and helps in learning and studying. The hostels have all the basic facilities like electricity, water, furniture and all-time meals are served. The safety and security of the hostels is taken care of by the hostel wardens. - Girls Hostel
Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce girls hostel facilities provide comfortable accommodation to outstation students. Hostel rooms are well-furnished with beds, study table, chair, cupboard, etc. The hostels also provide a lady doctor. - Gym
Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce gym facility is available for both the boys and girls students. The gym has modern equipment for workouts. - Library
The college library is a two-storied building and is very spacious. BMCC library facilities have print, non-print and e-resources like textbooks, reference books, national and international journals, periodicals, newspapers, magazines, e-books, online databases, e-journals and many more. The library has subscriptions of Inflibnet, Sage Online Journals, Banker’s Brief, etc for online resources. - Sports
BMCC sports facilities have both indoor and outdoor games. Separate fields are maintained for outdoor games. - Cafeteria

The college auditoriums are Tata Hall, Cyrus Hall and BMTRC Hall and are equipped with audio-video facilities. The auditoriums have a large seating capacity and various curricular and co-curricular activities are organised in the college auditorium. - Medical/Hospital
BMCC has a medical clinic and provides free treatment to the students and staff members. The medical clinic also provides a trained doctor. - IT Infrastructure
The IT infrastructure of the college manages the whole campus networking. All departments are equipped with computers and are well-connected with the internet. - Classrooms
BMCC classrooms are spacious and well-ventilated. The classrooms are equipped with digital boards to support the teaching and learning process. Cleanliness in the classrooms are especially taken care of and are daily maintained by the housekeeping team. - Laboratories
All the departments of the college have their own laboratories. The laboratories are equipped with modern instruments and apparatus. - Guest Room
The college guest room has all the basic facilities and is available for visiting faculty and family members of the students.
