The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and is approved by Govt. of Kerala and is one among the best arts and science colleges of the university. It is a minority community institution. The college is blessed with the Holy Light of our Holy Father H H Moran Mor Ignatius Apherem II, the Prince Patriarch of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church. This institution is named after the former supreme head of the Jacobite Syrian Church in India, H B Baselios Poulose Second, the Catholicose.
This institution is established in 2003 with a Vision and a Mission. The institution is governed by a charitable trust with H B Dr. Baselios Thomas I, Catholicose of the East as its Chairman and H G Joseph Mor Gregorios as its Manager.
Baselios Poulose Second College is situated on a hillock with a calm and serene atmosphere for learning and education. Here there is a vast panoramic view with beautiful and lucrative vegetation. It is 10Km away from Muvattupuzha and 3Km from Pampakuda on the Muvattupuzha – Piravom route.

Baselios Poulose Second College is adorned with a multifunctional computerized library with a collection of over 15000 volumes of books covering a vast and varied range of topics. The college provides modern facilities to enable students to pursue a range of recreational and sporting activities that cater to all levels of ability and interest. The department conducts annual sports events, provides students a platform to participate in various sports events. Competitions were arranged for different sports and game events like 100m race, 200m race, 400m race, 1500m race, 4x100m relay, Wrestling, Short put, Javelin throw, Discuss throw, Cricket, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Football, etc. with exclusive and extensive sports fields. This sports fest is one of the many opportunities for the exhibition of sportsmanship by our students.
