Bethune College Kolkata was established in 1879 as the first women's college in Asia with a mission to complete women with formal education. They believe in women empowerment hence, working towards making women the future. This college supports women who come from underprivileged backgrounds. Bethune College holds recognition from UGC and was re-accredited by NAAC in 2015 at the ‘A’ level. The college has been ranked 77th in NIRF College Ranking 2021. The institute improved its NIRF ranking as it was ranked 88th in NIRF College Ranking 2020.

Facilities

  • Sports- Bethune provides indoor and outdoor facilities for sports to the students such as carrom, chess, badminton etc. 

  • Girls Hostel- It can provide accommodation to 136 girls who come from different places to study. 

  • Gym- The college provides an agro-meter, bicycle, chest expander, ladies cycle and twister to students for exercising. 

  • Library- The college library has around 100000 books and journals as its collection. One may also find rare books in the library. It has dedicated floors for the science and arts stream. 

  • Laboratories- Students may find departmental laboratories for practical use. 

  • Cafeteria- the seating capacity of the cafeteria is 40 people. The food is available at the subsidized rates here. According to the UGC guidelines, junk food is ban here. 

  • IT infrastructure- Students will get a good IT infrastructure on the campus. 

  • Auditorium- Events and seminars take place in the auditorium. 

  • Alumni association- College holds good networking with the alumnus. 

  • Smart Classrooms- A number of smart classrooms and a 50 seated seminar room built on the campus with the help of the state government.
