Diocese of Kottar”; Act 27 of 1975 learning Registration No. 8.7 of 1985 dated 11.02.1985. According to the Judgment granted by the Madras High Court in 1975 it is a minority institution with a right to run educational institutions.
Bishop Agniswamy College of Education, Muttom is an institution run by the registered society of Roman Catholic Diocese of Kottar. It is governed by the Governing Council headed by the Chairman, the Bishop of Kottar. It was started on 28.10.2005 with due recognition from NCTE (No.FTN/SEC/SRO/NCTE-2004-2005/322 dt.11-03-2005) and “No Objection” order from the State Government was obtained under No. TN Govt. Order G.O (MS) No.342 dated 30.09.2005. The College was affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli (Order No. MSU/CD/Fresh/ Aff/2005-06 dt. 25.10.2005).
The Master Degree in Education (M.Ed.) was started on 12-10-2009 with due recognition from NCTE (No.F.SRO/NCTE/B.Ed/2008/5960 dt.08-10-2008) and affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai (Order No. TNTEU/R/Affln/M.Ed(N)/2009-2010/734 dt.06-10-2009).

The candidates should have passed the UG degree examination in the 10+2+3 stream. The candidates with the following marks in the Bachelor’s degree are eligible for admission to the course (OC -50%, BC-45%, MBC/DNC-43%, SC/SCA/ST-40%).
