Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College, Bengaluru is the only college in Bengaluru that imparts legal education for women. This institution for legal education was inaugurated on 14th July 2002. As of now, ten batches of students have passed out of the Law College. The Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College is recognised by the Government of Karnataka and was affiliated to Bangalore University till 2008-09. From 2009-10, it was affiliated to the Karnataka State Law University and is approved by the Bar Council of India.
Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College is located in Mission Road, C. S. I. Compound and the nearest metro station is Sir M. Visvesvaraya Station, with a distance of 2 km. Students can hire an auto-rickshaw or can walk from the metro station and reach the college in around 10 mins and 20 mins respectively. Students between the age of 17 and 22 are admitted into the 5 years BB.A.LL.B Course. Candidates with 80% marks or more in the qualifying examination will be admitted on the spot. For others, the admission is made on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the oral interview wherein the candidate’s vocabulary, communication skills, smartness, shrewdness, and presence of mind are assessed.
Girls Hostel Residential accommodation is available in the Trinity Women’s Hostel. Admission in the Hostel will be on the basis of first come first served, to the students admitted in the college. Every effort is made at the hostel to provide home comforts. Safety and comfort of the students are the main aims of the college.
Library Books pertaining to the syllabus for the course, Biographies, and Autobiographies, Fictions for extra reading, Journals of various kinds, case reports and weeklies and dailies get their places in the stacks in the Library. The students are motivated to cultivate reading habit. Library usage for two hours a week is made compulsory for the students. It is believed that an elaborate reading makes them “Complete Lawyers”. E-library is an added credit. Internet facility is also available.
Sports Annual Sports Day is held in November or January. Facilities for indoor and outdoor games are available. Students from all the four Houses take part. Winners and Runners up in various games and athletic events are awarded prizes. Individual championship and House championship are also awarded. A rolling shield is awarded to the best Marching House.
Cafeteria The campus has a big canteen. It offers delicious hot meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic atmosphere.
Auditorium The campus has a posh auditorium with all the latest audio, video and public address systems.
IT Infrastructure The college has excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.
Transport The college provides bus service from the hostel to the college and back to the hostel from the college.
Moot Court There is a classicaly designed, well furnished and spacious Moot Court Hall. The Moot Competitions are conducted for all the 5 year BBA. LL. B. students as well as for 3 year LL. B. students.
Laboratories Approximately 20 computers are available. Those who are doing Diploma Course on Corporate Laws will be using the computers.
