Brainware University is a private state university established by the Government of West Bengal. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Brainware University offers specialised programmes in engineering, biotechnology, biosciences, management and commerce, law, pharmacy, allied health sciences, computational and applied sciences, communication, multimedia and media science. The university also offers diploma courses in various subjects. Brainware University is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Brainware University Kolkata, a part of a 30-year-old leading education group, Brainware of West Bengal, started with the aim of contributing to nation-building through research, innovation and quality education. The university is the brainchild of Mr. Phalguni Mookhopadhayay. More than 2 lakhs students have completed their education from the Brainware University.
Brainware University offers over 60 diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral and skill programmes to around 10,000 students. Brainware University admissions are done based on the performance of the candidates in the Brainware Entrance Test (BET).
Brainware University organises various seminars, workshops, fests to unleash the creativity of students. Students can join a variety of clubs to pursue their interests, such as photography clubs, technology clubs, communication clubs, and so on. Brainware University Kolkata has well-maintained infrastructural facilities, modern labs and workshops, a team of highly qualified faculty, soft skills training, and an efficient placement cell.

Brainware University is located at 398, Ramkrishnapur Road, near Jagadighata Market, Barasat, Kolkata in West Bengal. The nearest railway station to the university campus is Barasat Railway Station, which is about 2.5 km away and the nearest bus depot is Barasat WBTC which is just 2.9 km away from the campus. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is about 14.5 km from Brainware University. Students can take a taxi or cab to reach the campus.

Facilities
- Boys Hostel
Brainware University facilities and infrastructure include a boys’ hostel on the campus premises. The boys’ hostel has various facilities for the students. In the boys’ hostel, there is an RO water facility and generator backup are available in the case of a power outage. The boys’ hostel rooms are entirely secure and surrounded by boundary walls, with indoor and outdoor games and recreation facilities for the students. The boys’ hostel is the place where students relax after a busy day and catch up with friends. - Girls Hostel
On the campus, there is a girls’ hostel for female students. Girls’ hostel rooms are equipped with all the modern facilities. There is the provision of RO water plants and generator backup facilities in case of power failure in the hostel. The girls’ hostel is fully safe and enclosed with boundary walls and has the provision of indoor and outdoor games and recreation facilities for the students. - Gym

It has a membership in e-resources and has a subscription to national and international peer-reviewed e-journals. An online public access catalogue (OPAC) facility is available to facilitate the online search of the library books with title, author, keyword and subject. Brainware University library has an institutional membership of DELNET and the university library has membership with National Digital Library and e-Shodh Sindhu. - Sports
Brainware University facilities include various sports facilities on the campus. There is a huge playground for various sports activities like cricket, football and basketball. The university also provides an indoor table tennis arrangement, carrom, and a swimming pool are available on the campus. Brainware University has a well-furnished football field and cricket fields. It also has a hockey field, handball, volleyball and badminton court. Tournaments in these sports are organised on the campus at the university level.
