It is also known as CMS College. In the year 2007, the college received the accolade of autonomy. The institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi and is recognised by the University Grants Commission. The college was ranked 82 in the college category by the NIRF in the year 2020. CMS College of Science and Commerce, Coimbatore offers 17 Undergraduate courses, 14 Postgraduate, 7 M.Phil and 3 Ph.D programmes to the students.

The minimum eligibility requirement for admission to BA/ B.Com. / BCA/ BB/ BBA CA is candidates must pass 10+2 or its equivalent examination in relevant discipline from any state/ national examination board. Candidates who have completed HSC or 10+2 with Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Physics/ Biology/ Zoology/ Computer Science/ Nursing/ Botany/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology/Nursing etc. any of these subjects depending upon the discipline are considered eligible for admission to B.Sc. program.
