The Institution was established by a Public Charitable Trust in 2014-15 at Punnapra, Alappuzha, with the object of providing education to all in the field of Engineering & Technology. Our motto is moulding Engineers par Excellence with Integrity, commitment and human values who are competent to meet the global standards in business, industry and research and would act as catalysts for the transformation of the society.
Carmel College of Engineering & Technology, Punnapra managed by St. Joseph's Carmel Educational & Charitable Trust of CMI, is the only Engineering College offering UG level courses under the Province of St.Joseph, Thiruvananthapuram. A self-financing college approved by AICTE and affiliated to university of Kerala, Carmel College of Engineering and Technology offers 4 year B.Tech courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Computer Science Engineering. Nationality: Candidates must be Citizens of India.
Academic: Pass in Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or an examination recognized equivalent thereto with at least Fifty percent marks in Mathematics separately and Fifty percent marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade. Rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is not permitted.

Boys Hostel

Library
The College has built a Central Library Combining aesthetics with utility, the modern Library houses more than 5500 documents consisting of Technical Books, Full-Text E-Resources, Journals both print and online, Digital resources reports, Thesis, standards, and back volumes of journals. The library subscribes to more than 65 printed journals and technical magazines. The college has a separate collection of books, Career, and Personality Development, Fiction, etc. Library follows the open access system. The Library comes with provisions for modern facilities including Library Automation, Research Scholars, Stack Section, Reference Section, and Circulation Section with advanced computers and other peripherals connected in LAN.
Sports
Sports and games help in creating a lively atmosphere on the campus and also teach the students the importance of commitment and teamwork. The college encourages its students for taking part in various sporting and gaming activities. The college has a good-sized playground which can be used for cricket and football and also a volleyball court. An annual sports meet is conducted in the college every year in which students are encouraged for competing in various track and field events as well as games.
Cafeteria
The canteen is situated within the college campus. All types of snacks, soft drinks, meals are available at subsidized rates. The canteen is open from 7.30 am to 6.30 pm every day.
Auditorium
The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.
Medical/Hospital
The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.
IT Infrastructure
The computer labs provide an excellent working environment with Pentium-based terminals on Windows and Linux platforms.
Transport
A fleet of five buses plies on Changanacherry, Kayamkulam, Cherthala, Edathua-Thiruvalla, Muhammad- Thanneermukkom routes in the morning and evening. Around 200 students and staff from various parts of the region use these bus services for conveyance to and from the College.
Laboratories
The college has a departmental-based laboratories facility for the students.
Guest Room
The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.
Banks Facilities
An extension counter of the Federal Bank Vandanam Branch is situated within the campus.
