DAN College of Education for Women

Dayanand Amarnath College of Education was established as a part of R.K. Arya College, Nawanshahr in 1955 through the munificence of Late Dr. Amar Nath who enabled its foundation by giving a rich donation of Rs. 25000/-. It was separated and was independently established in 1959 and got recognition with UGC under section 2(F) and 12(B) in the year 1959. Dr. Amar Nath Shanti Devi Khosla Trust was created in 1970 by Late Sh. Basheshar Nath (Brother of Late Dr. Amar Nath) who donated the inherited property worth Rs. 2 Lakh for the welfare of this college without any ostentation. The humanitarian and benevolent efforts of philanthropists like Late L. Dharam Chand Laroiya, Pt. Charanjit Lal Sengar, Pt. Ram Narad, Dr. Asa Nand Bhalla, Principal Sh. Nand Lal, Pt. Devinder Kumar, Sh. K.K. Sengar, Sh. Ved Parkash Sareen and Sh. Harbans Lal Sharma for the development of this institution are unforgettable.

The institution works with the avowed objective of providing pupil-teachers of the region, quality education, modern facilities in teacher education, to upgrade teacher competence and to equip them with latest innovations in pupil teacher interaction. The prestigious institution is constantly striving to make education a forceful tool for bringing social change by educating women.

The institution strives to develop among student teachers sound knowledge of subjects, classroom communication patterns, effective classroom management, technological devices, effective and practical transactional strategies in the classroom, attitudes, motivation and skills in a variety of school contexts.
