Delhi University (DU) was established in 1922 under the Central Legislative Assembly Act. The University of Delhi is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A+’ grade. It is ranked at 19th position in NIRF overall ranking 2021, compared to 18th position previous year. In the research category, DU secured 11th position in NIRF rankings 2021. Furthermore, the university has secured 12th rank in NIRF University Ranking 2021. DU is graded as a category one university and recognised as Institute of Eminence (IoE) by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Delhi University has 91 colleges affiliated to it. The University of Delhi has 86 departments and 16 faculties. The vision of the university is to provide students with a well structured educational environment. Delhi University offers 201 courses in philosophy, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, business economics and many more. DU provides diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees to students.

Some of the popular courses offered by Delhi University are BCom, BSc (H) Biochemistry, MA Hindi, MA Sanskrit, PhD Chemistry etc. The admission process of every course is different at the University of Delhi. Admission to courses offered by Delhi University is given on the basis of the entrance exam and the merit of the qualifying exam. The University of Delhi has collaborated with numerous foreign universities like the University of Wollongong (Australia), the University of Vienna (Austria) etc. The tie ups with foreign universities and institutes provide students with a global exposure. 

DU also has provision for students exchange programmes. Furthermore, Delhi University is a part of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and International Association of Universities. Hostel facilities for outstation students are also provided by the university. Additionally, the university has a library, computer centre, conference centre etc. The University of Delhi also has committees and cells to look after the extracurricular activities and to maintain decorum on the campus.

University of Delhi (DU) is located at Benito Juarez Marg, South Campus, South Moti Bagh, New Delhi, Delhi. The nearest airport is IGI Airport with a distance of 12.6 km. Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro Station is the nearest to the university. It is located 1.6 km away from the University of Delhi. RR Hospital Bus Stand is the nearest bus stand with a distance of 2.5 km. The best mode of transportation to reach the university is metro and bus.

  • Candidates applying for B.A., B.Com and B.Sc must have passed Class 12th with the minimum marks required for each programme.
  • Point to be noted that DU eligibility criteria 2022 varies depending on the candidate’s category.
  • There is no age limit for UG programmes offered by the university.

  • Boys Hostel
    DU offers hostels facility to the outstanding students. There are numerous hostel available for male students. One such hostel is Post Graduate Men’s Hostel.  
  • Girls Hostel
    The university has separate hostel facilities for girls. North Eastern Students House for Women, Rajiv Gandhi Hostels for Girls etc. are some of the girls hotels of DU.  
  • Library
    University of Delhi, Delhi has nine libraries for students which are Central Library, FMS Library, Arts Library ,Central Science Library ,East Asian Studies Library, Law Library, Ratan Tata Library, South Campus Library and Braille Library. All these libraries have thousands of books, journals, research papers etc. Furthermore, DU also has a digital library with a gigantic electronic database for students and faculty.

    DU has a WUS health centre for its students and faculty members. The health centre has a full time physician, Gynaecologist, Pulmonologist etc. and part time cardiologist, eye specialist, psychiatrist etc.
