Mr. Thomas Thanangattu, a past pupil of Don Bosco and proprietor of GINA Engineering Company, a leading construction firm in Bangalore donated six acres of land from his ancestral property to the Salesians of Don Bosco for establishing a college for those seeking a quality institute for higher education in northern districts of Kerala
Don Bosco Arts & Science College had a humble beginning in 1994 as a Parallel College, offering pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Calicut University for about 600 students, with Fr. Thomas Poovelickal SDB as Rector and Manager, and Bro. Shaji Kalavanal SDB as Principal.
It was in 2002 that Don Bosco Parallel College was elevated to an affiliated Self-Financing College of Kannur University, with Master of Computer Applications (MCA) as its only academic programme. Two new postgraduate programmes, Master of Communication and Journalism (MCJ) and Master of Social Work (MSW), were introduced in 2003. Three undergraduate programmes, BA English Literature, BCom and BSc Mathematics were launched in 2005. Savio Home, a full-fledged men’s hostel was blessed in 2006.
As per the requirements of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Don Bosco Arts & Science College was formally bifurcated from Don Bosco College to a new campus on November 8, 2008.
Maria Niketan, hostel for postgraduate students and T J Arcade, for UG girls was formally opened in June 2013 and May 2018 respectively. Three undergraduate programmes (BCom Co-operation, BBA & BCA) and two postgraduate programmes (MA English Literature and MCom Finance) were added in 2012. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and MSc Mathematics were introduced in 2015 and 2017 accordingly. Two new courses B.Com Finance and B.Sc Psychology was launched in 2018.

The College has various national and international collaborations.
A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
Facilities
- Boys Hostel
The College has well-furnished rooms with a conducive environment for rigorous academic pursuit. A home away from home, hostel has a regular timetable tailored to the requirements of the growing generation. Currently hostel accommodates 140 students. - Girls Hostel
The College Girls Hostel is located very close to the campus, and is run by SABS Sisters. Being personally supervised and monitored by the Sisters, hostel is a safe and happy ‘home away from home. - Gym
The college has a Gym facility for the students. - Library
The college has a library facility for all students. The college has a Library Council comprising Principal, Heads of the various Departments, Faculty members, Librarian and Student Representatives to assist in procuring books, journals, and magazines. Library Council is responsible for the upkeep of the library facilities. Library uses BookMagic, an Integrated Library Management System, for its in-house operations. This allows users to search a book author-wise, title-wise, subject-wise. Library also has OPAC terminals at various locations. Information pertaining to Library is also made available through OPACCollege has a digital library that contains e-books, e-journals and question papers of all previously conducted university examinations of the courses/programs available in the college. The digital library also provides e-gateway to open access journals and shodhganga. Digital libraries can be accessed on the Local Area Network only. - Sports
The college has a playground for football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, and shuttle badminton. Interdepartmental and intercollegiate matches are organized and college teams are sent for university-level tournaments. - Cafeteria
The College has a well-established cafeteria. Canteen is spick and span, and offers items of quality at an affordable rate. Canteen functions on all working days. - Auditorium
The College has a very spacious auditorium regularly used for morning assembly, intercollegiate fests, interdepartmental competitions, Onam, Arts & College Day celebrations, and College Union Programmes. Over 1,500 students can have comfortably seated in the auditorium. - WiFi

The College has an ATM counter inside the campus. The ATM counter of Federal Bank, having a branch at Vallithode close by is at the service of the students particularly those staying in hostels
