Salesians of Don Bosco came to Mampetta in the year 1989. They began the work for the youth of the locality by organizing a daily Youth Centre and giving tuition classes to the local children. Soon an Industrial Training Centre and a Computer Centre were begun offering various job oriented training programmes. The ITI got its approval from NCVT- Government of India in 1997. Plus two programme was started in 2005 imparting Higher Secondary Education to the aspiring and deserving students. Later on, to cater to more youth of the neighbourhood and to make them responsible citizens, the institution launched into the higher education sector. Don Bosco College received the official sanction from the Government of Kerala and approval from University of Calicut in 2013 and the first batch of students were enrolled in the same year itself. The institution spares no effort in imparting integral and quality education to lead the students to self-transformation and to make them agents of social development and enrichment.
A pass in the Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent, with at least one Commerce subject, is the eligibility for admission to the B.Com degree course. Candidates who have not taken Commerce subject for Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination should get at least 45 percent marks (in 6 subjects) in that examination to become eligible to seek admission to the B.Com course. A concession of 5 percent will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need to get only a pass.
Library The College Library has a well stock of text and reference books to support the curriculum of the students. Its collections besides textbooks include periodicals, magazines, journals, fictions in English and Malayalam, career guidance books, and the like. The library is open on all working days and Saturdays (except the second Saturday) from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm. The library is fully automated with integrated library software; providing functions like Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), issue, return and search for the status of the books and users, article search and user entry login at the entrance, bar-code technology for circulation of documents, etc.
Sports The College strongly believes that for the holistic development of human personality sufficient emphasis must be given to sports and games as in academics. The college textbooks every year inter-department sports and games competitions and also gives training to interested students to participate in the inter-zone and university level competitions. The College has a Volleyball court and a Badminton court at the disposal of the students.
Cafeteria The College Canteen is located at a separate independent cottage to cater to the needs of the students and the staff. The canteen functions on all working days from the morning and remains open until the close of the college hours. The service of the canteen includes serving tea, coffee, snacks, and meals at subsidized and affordable rates. The Canteen premises are kept neat and tidy giving special attention to hygiene and cleanliness.
Auditorium The College has an open-roofed auditorium with a built-in stage and green room located at the quadrangle of the UG section, which has a seating capacity of 1000 people.
IT Infrastructure The College computer lab of the college is well furnished with fifty computers and accessories installed for the use and benefits of the students and faculty members.
Laboratories The College Language Laboratory which is also the grooming yard for the students to attain the robes of a good communicator is attached to the Computer Lab of the college. The Language Lab plays an important role in the language learning process of the students of the college.
Guest Room The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.
