Government Engineering College, Thalapuzha P O, Mananthavady, Wayanad, Kerala - 670644, India.Government Engineering College, Wayanad (GECW) was established by the Government of Kerala in 1999. From its humble beginning in the campus of Government College, Mananthavady the institution has grown to a prestigious institution for higher education in the northern part of the State. Three undergraduate course viz. Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Architecture were offered at the beginning. The college now offers B.Tech courses in Computer Science &Engg., Electronics and Communication Engg., Electrical and Electronics Engg and Mechanical Engg. (The architecture course was shifted to GEC Trissur). An M.Tech.course in Communication and Signal Processing is also being offered from 2011 and M.Tech course in Computer Science & Engineering Network & Security from 2014 onwards. GEC Wayanad is the only Engineering College in the backward district of Wayanad. Nine Hundred and Fifty Seven (957) students are pursuing their UG and 54 PG students are in M Tech courses in the GECW campus. Part Time B. Tech course is started in ECE branch. With a dedicated faculty and talented students, GEC Wayanad has the capacity to become the technology hub of this remote area of the State. The installation of High Performance Computing System is over and initiated steps to sign MoU with C-DAC to enhance the utility of this lab. Several items were received under this package and the installation is on the way. Modernization. of various laboratories and workshops is almost complete.

GECWAA offers various proficiency awards as well as endowment prizes for our students. The association extends its helping hand to pain and palliative unit of the college. Alumni Association is also ready to implement a new student support plan called WECARE which help poor students with good academic records to achieve their goals.
A Candidate for admission to the four-year degree course in Engineering must have passed the Intermediate examination (10+2) of the Board of Intermediate Education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as subjects or any other examination.

Boys Hostel
The college provides separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostel has a capacity of 240 students. The hostel ensures comfortable living of the students by providing them all the modern amenities such as a recreational room, dispensary, Wi-Fi internet connectivity, 24*7 drinking water, mess etc.
Girls Hostel
Government Engineering College Wayanad has two girls hostels that can accommodate around 320 students. The hostel has all the modern facilities and amenities such as well furnished rooms, 24*7 drinking water, geysers, indoor games room, television etc.

The library of the college is fully automated with a wide collection of books, reference books, periodicals, CD-ROMs, e-journals etc. The library is functional on all working days from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
