Established in 1985, the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science is located in Tamil Nadu. The institute is recognised by the University Grant Commission(UGC) and the Government of India. Spread in 150 acres of land, the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science is accredited with the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and also with National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The institute has secured 172 nd rank in the Engineering category in NIRF 2021 Ranking with a score of 33.98 out of 100. It had scored 107th rank in the same category in NIRF 2020 Rankings. In the Architecture category, the institute was ranked 20th by NIRF in 2020.

HITS has collaborated with many national and international organisations and is well equipped with advanced facilities which make the HITS become popular among students. HITS offers various courses at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels which provide ample choice for the students to build their careers.  There are 10 Research Centres and 7 Schools (Aeronautical, Building, Computing, Electrical, Management, Mechanical, Science & Humanities) which mentors the students on innovative ideas.

Urapakkam Railway Station is 22.3 km away and Kamadhenu Nagar Bus Stop is 24.4 km away from the Institute. Chennai International Airport is 30.5 km away from HITS. Students can take a cab or a bus to reach HITS.

A Pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology Technical Vocational subject. Obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together with minimum 60% in Mathematics. 

Facilities

  • Boys Hostel
    The institute has a boy’s hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. The hostels have air-conditioned and standard, well-furnished rooms with attached restrooms that provide the students with the right atmosphere.  The kitchen and spacious dining area are given for both the hostels. 
  • Girls Hostel
    Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science facilities include a separate girls hostel which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. All the hostels provide students with a range of facilities and opportunities. Security, communication and dispensary services are also available round-the-clock.
  • Gym
    The institute has a Gymnasium facility for the students. They can visit the gym to stay fit and healthy.
  • Library
    The HITS campus has a wide and spacious library that provides a large number of books and journals. The system of the Hindustan University Library comprises a Central Library and Departmental Libraries that collectively support the Institute's teaching, research and extension programmes. Both students, faculty members and Institute staff are allowed to use the registered membership library facilities. In addition, the Library, through its various branches, has a large collection of books on architecture, science and humanities.

    HITS Chennai facilities include indoor and outdoor sports for the students.

    HITS Chennai has a canteen facility for staff and students that provide healthy and hygienic food to them at a reasonable price.

    There are six conference rooms that are fully air-conditioned and well designed for lectures and presentations.

    The campus clinic of HITS is available 24x7 for all the students and staff. The ambulance and other medical facilities are available for any emergency.

    Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science has a Wi-Fi facility for the students and staff.

    The HITS facilities also include computer facilities. The campus is well equipped with computer resources and is assisted by hardware and software for various computing requirements. HITS's computer centre provides students and staff with internet connectivity.

    HITS Chennai is on the main road to Chennai City. Public transit buses are available in front of the university campus, and this service is used by many day scholars.
