The college is commonly known as HR College. HR College of Commerce and Economics is located at Churchgate in Mumbai. HR College is run by the Hyderabad (Sindh) National Collegiate Board or HSNC Board. HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai is accredited by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC). HR College has been recognized by the UGC as a College with Potential for Excellence.
In the past five years, the college has introduced several new postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai has various UG, PG and doctoral programmes and they are B.Com, B.M.S, B.M.M., B.Voc., M.Com and Ph.D.

The college has a library. HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai library is located on the first floor and the library provides an air-conditioned solar reading room with a seating capacity for 140 students. Besides this, there is a special room which accommodates about 60 students is kept open as additional reading space. It remains open 24 X 7 and the open-access collection facility is offered from 8 a.m to 6 p.m on working days. Library at HR College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai has a collection of more than 58000 books and 67 periodicals. It also has a collection of more than 850 audio-visual materials. Library subscribes to e-resources like NLIST, Ibl, JGate, CBM E-books. The library is fully computerised and collection details can be accessed with the “Any Word Anywhere” facility via SLIM21 - an integrated, multi-user, multi-tasking library information windows-based software. The library conducts orientations, research guidance sessions, book exhibitions, book talks, Library volunteerism programmes etc. on a regular basis.
