Hansraj College, Delhi

Hansraj College is one of the largest constituent colleges of the University of Delhi. The college was founded by the D.A.V. College Managing Committee on 26th July, 1948 in the sacred memories of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati and Mahatma Hansraj who spent their magnificent lives emphasizing the importance of knowledge. It is today one of the leading lights in the D.A.V. family of over 700 institutions.

Hansraj College is a premier institution dedicated to teaching and research. It has highly qualified academicians who impart education in Science, Commerce, and Arts at undergraduate and graduate levels to more than 5000 students on its rolls. The college has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities.

The college has completed 75 years in the realm of imparting higher education. It has made significant and unparalleled contributions in terms of producing scholars, bureaucrats, intellectuals, and sportsperson who served different domains not only in our own country but even at international levels.

Over the years, the college has built up an impressive infrastructure. It includes a well-stocked Central Library, departmental libraries for Science subjects and a Book Bank for needy students. The college has six Computer Labs and 18 Science laboratories. Its sports facilities include a vast sports field which includes a football field and a basketball court, an indoor sports complex and the only Electronic Shooting Range in the entire University.

The college has a modern air-conditioned Auditorium fitted with the latest sound and light systems with a seating capacity of 400-500 persons and a balcony on the first floor to host guests of honor. Other attractions are the air-conditioned Seminar Rooms. Both the seminar rooms have a seating capacity of 120 people and are fitted with state-of-the-art sound and projection systems. The college has a hostel accommodating of about 200 undergraduate boys and is fitted with solar geysers and 24-hour power back-up.
