Hislop College, Nagpur was established in 1883 and managed by Hislop Education Society. In the entire history of Nagpur University, Hislop College stands as the Oldest Institution in Vidarbha. It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress. The college is affiliated with the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) under Act, 1956. It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade (CGPA Score 3.31 on a 4 Point Scale in 3rd Cycle) on 16th September 2016. It was first affiliated to Calcutta (Kolkata) University, then Allahabad University and finally to Nagpur University after it was established in the year 1924. Rev.Stephen Hislop was born on 8th September 1817 to 4th September 1863.), after whom the college is named, was an Evangelist. The History of Hislop College was divided into three periods. The first period begins with the arrival of Rev.Stephen Hislop in Nagpur in 1845 and the establishment of Anglo-vernacular schools The second period begins with the emergence of a college in 1883, named after Stephen Hislop The Third period begins when the Foreign Mission Church of Scotland transferred the entire control and management of the college into Indian Hands in 1941 The aim of the college is inculcating gender equality in the rural area, social awareness, scientific temperament, cleanliness, awareness about environmental issues.
