The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). PTU Jalandhar got 104th position in NIRF Engineering Ranking 2020 whereas it was ranked 120 in the NIRF Ranking 2021 in the engineering category. The varsity campus is spread over an area of 5 lakhs square feet. PTU Jalandhar has 121 AICTE and 65 UGC approved colleges affiliated to it. As per the website of the university, the varsity vision is to train students and develop skilled professionals in the country and state specifically. To achieve this PTU Jalandhar has set up several training centres and centres of excellence across the city.
At present, PTU Jalandhar offers diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in the field of management, engineering, art & science etc. PTU Jalandhar offers only full-time programmes. It also gives admission to international students. The admission process and eligibility criteria of courses offered by PTU Jalandhar are different on the basis of course level and stream. Engineering programmes offered by the university are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The varsity has collaboration with foreign universities and offers exchange programmes also.
IK Gujral Punjab Technical University Jalandhar has a huge campus with all the necessary facilities and infrastructure for students. The university has grounds for outdoor sports like cricket, football, basketball etc. and equipment for indoor sports like table tennis, chess etc. PTU Jalandhar regularly participates in inter-varsity games. To motivate students PTU Jalandhar also has different scholarships for students. These scholarships are offered to students who are prolific in sports/academics. Cultural events like dance and singing competitions are also conducted at the campus. To ensure students are placed PTU Jalandhar has a dedicated body known as the Corporate Relation and Alumni Department which looks after the placement and internship of students. CR&A cell makes sure that students are well prepared for the placement drive held at the end of the academic year.
