O, Palakkad, Kerala - 678557Established in 2015, the Indian Institute of Technology, Palakkad is dedicated to creating an environment that enables students and faculty to engage in the pursuit of knowledge, to dream, think and innovate thereby becoming change agents for a better world. Having begun with just 120 students in July 2015, IIT Palakkad has since grown into an establishment which is about a thousand students strong and with the best of manpower in key positions. IIT Palakkad aims to become a multi-disciplinary institution with 5000 students by its 10th year. The Institute recognises collective growth, in collaboration with industry and other academic institutions, as the need of the time and emphasises blue-sky research and directed research as two essential pillars of technology development. It embraces a vision to be a leader in cross-disciplinary inquiries, and to contribute to the potential that India's demographic dividend represents for the country and the world, which is embodied in the motto of the institute “Nurturing minds for a better world”.

IIT Palakkad (IITPKD) B. Tech Eligibility Criteria
Applicants seeking admission to the B. Tech program offered at IIT Palakkad shall fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
Candidates must have passed 10+2 in the science stream and have secured a position in the top 20 percentiles in their respective board or have at least 75% marks (70% for SC/ST/ PWD) OR
The candidates need to have completed a Diploma program recognized by AICTE or the State Board of Technical

Facilities
Boys Hostel
The college provides separate hostels for boys and girls. Students are provided accommodation on a twin-sharing basis and all rooms have attached bathrooms. The hostels ensure comfortable living of the students by providing them all the modern amenities such as television, internet connectivity through Wi-FI and LAN, well-equipped twin-sharing rooms, study rooms, indoor games room, etc. Hot water is provided through solar heaters. The hostels also have a spacious dining area, heavy-duty washing machine, in-house facility for playing football, volleyball, basketball and table tennis.
Girls Hostel
IIT Palakkad offers girls hostel with all the modern facilities and amenities such as well-equipped double sharing rooms, 24*7 hot water, internet connectivity, television etc. The hostel also has double/triple sharing rooms with attached bathrooms, a spacious dining hall, a well-equipped recreational area, an indoor games area, a fitness center, RO based drinking water system and a common room with television, newspaper and magazines.

IT Infrastructure
The Chandra is a high-performance computing cluster (HPC) that provides a powerful computing platform for engineering and physical science research. The HPC is made up of 64 compute nodes, each of which is equipped with a twin 12-core Intel processor. Each CPU has a clock speed of 2.2 GHz and 4 GB of RAM.

The institute offers transport services from the Ahalia campus to Palakkad stadium.
