Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Technology for Women (LBSITW), Thiruvananthapuram, is the first engineering college for women in the state of Kerala on the Malabar Coast of southwestern India. This is the second engineering college managed by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala the other being LBS College of Engineering, Kasargod. LBSITW is the only engineering college for women in the Government sector in the state of Kerala. The center is administered by a governing body and an executive committee. The Honorable Chief Minister is the Chairman of the governing body and the Honorable Minister of Education is the Vice-Chairman.This institution is aimed to make women self-sufficient and empowered with regards to technical education. It is a self-financing college situated in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram.

Girls Hostel LBS Institute of Technology, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram, (LBSITW) is one of the topmost engineering colleges in Kerala offering accommodation for 200 5tudents opting for Hostel Admission. The women’s hostel is inside the campus. The priority for admission will be given to students based on the distance from their home town. LBSITW provides fully furnished hostel facilities. The Hostel is governed by a Hostel warden, a faculty from the College appointed by the Principal and he/she is assisted with a resident Tutor, Honorary Resident Tutor, and Matron to meet all matters concerning the welfare of the inmates of the HosteL Above all, a hostel is a place of peace and serenity for both learning and extracurricular activities. Indoor games, knowledge sharing, mutual care and understanding, and a will to be the best are what make life within four walls enriching and enthralling. The hostel has a dedicated mess that offers quality food. Guest room facilities are also available in the hosteL Gym The college has a Gym facility for the students. Library The mission of the Central Library is to facilitate the creation of new knowledge through the acquisition, organization, and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing value-added services. The library is spread over 6400sq ft and has a seating capacity for 150 students. Does the library have an excellent collection of books, journals, and non-book materials in Science, Engineering? Technology, Humanities, Social science and Management, and History. It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, Bound volumes of Journals, Technical Reports, Project Reports, Seminar reports, Previous question papers, CD-ROMs, DVDs, Periodicals, etc. At present, the library has a collection of around 8016 titles and 17,700 volumes of books and Reference materials. Besides standard textbooks, the library contains books of literature and general interest. Books are classified and arranged as per the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme (DDC) so that members can locate books easily. The library is digitalized and operates on LIBSOFT (Library Management Software). In addition to the Central Library, there are Departmental Libraries for all Departments. The library is completely computerized and the circulation is based on the bar code system. The Central Library has a separate section for M Tech Students.
