The institute has been recognised as the “ College of Excellence” by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Loyola College Chennai is affiliated to the University of Madras. NAAC has accredited the college with an ‘A++’ grade. In NIRF College Rankings 2021, the institute has been ranked at 3rd position, whereas, in 2020, the institute got 6th position. The institute has 351 faculty members and currently 10124 students are enrolled in the various programmes offered by the college. Loyola College offers courses at three levels - undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral. The college offers 75 programmes in total.
For UG courses admission, 12th standard marks are accepted. For admission in PG courses, the college conducts an entrance examination. - Boys Hostel
The college has 19 blocks in the boys hostel. It can accommodate around 1500 students. The boys hostel has all the necessary facilities like wifi, reading room, multiple mess etc. Financial support is provided to the students that are economically weaker. - Girls Hostel
Loyola College Chennai girls hostel was established in 2011. The girls hostel is a four storey building with accommodation capacity of 560 students. Students at the girls hostel are provided with amenities like reading room, wifi, mess, indoor game facilities etc. - Gym

The central library of the institute has a collection of more than 1,10,000 books and around 82 journals. The library was established in 1930.
