Kasturba Health Society’s Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram was established by Dr Sushila Nayar in the year 1969 upon the suggestion of then Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and after getting the approval of the Planning Commission. The institute is also known as MGIMS Sevagram. The expenditure of building the college was shared by the Government of India, Maharashtra Government and the Kasturba Health society in the proportion of 50:25:25 respectively. MGIMS Sevagram is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) Nashik. Kasturba Health Society’s Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses to the students in the field of medical science.
MGIMS is located at Sevagram in Maharashtra. Sewagram Junction is around 6 km away from the institute. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport is at a distance of 71 km away from the college. The nearest bus depot is - Wardha Bus Depot and it is at a distance of 7 km away. Students can take an auto-rickshaw to reach there.
For seeking admissions to MBBS course, a candidate must have passed higher secondary/10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology
Individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English is mandatory
Must have secured 50% marks (40% for reserved category) in aggregate
Boys Hostel The college has a boy’s hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.
Girls Hostel The college has a girl's hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

Library Each year, the library subscribes to 218 medical journals; 154 of them, international. Journals with very high impact factor such as Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Annals of Internal Medicine, B M J and Archives of Internal Medicine, WHO global periodicals and publications arrive in the library within 2 weeks of their publication. In addition, the library has subscribed to 2074 e-resources of the digital library of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The library stocks 25,851 books. The library has also carefully archived old journals- a total of 15,932 hard-bound journals, neatly stacked, occupy the shelves of the library. The journals are alphabetically arranged. Although several journals date as far back as 1960, they can be easily accessed. The books are classified according to the DDC system and catalogued according to AACR II system. Since 1992, the library has been identified as a resource library in Western India within HELLIS Network. The membership of the library is open to MGIMS students and faculty and also to the supporting staff of the Kasturba Health Society. Members can borrow books and journals and retain them for a fortnight.
