Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad or MNNIT Allahabad was established in 1961 in the form of a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It was associated initially with the University of Allahabad and later transformed to be renamed as the Motilal Nehru Regional College of Engineering, and affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh Technical University until 2002. In 2007 it was granted the status of a deemed university and renamed as the “National Institute of Technology” with an elevation in status to Institution of national importance. It is spread across an area of 222 acres of land. MNNIT Allahabad is ranked 42nd under the engineering category in the NIRF 2021 Ranking. In the NIRF Rankings of 2021, the university has been ranked 88th in the overall category.
MNNIT Allahabad was created with a vision to serve as an institution for technological innovation, act as a creator as well as the disseminator of knowledge and an institution for technological innovation. The institution works with the vision to create an ecosystem for value-based learning in working areas of technology to provide quality-based human resources to society and also develop sustainable products through improved technologies.
The university is situated in the city of Allahabad Prayagraj which is well connected in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh through flight, roadways and rail transport. From the different parts of the country, the Allahabad city domestic airport Bamrauli Airport helps to connect with major airports such as Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata. It is 16 km from MNNIT. The Allahabad City Railway Station is 8 km and the Civil Lines bus station is 6 km from the campus.
The university conducted an international conference on "Emerging Trends in Biotechnology-BioSangam 2022."
The director of the university launched Research and Consultancy Magazine “Shodh".
Professor Rajiv Tripathi, director of MNNIT Allahabad organised the 17th annual convocation with Minister of education, Dr.Ramesh Pokhriyal as the chief guest in the virtual platform of Google Platform.
The university gold medal was presented by the honorable minister of education to final year student Miss. Garima Goel from the electronics and communication engineering department.
The minister of education inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee underpass connecting the academic block area with the residential area.
The institute innovation Council hosted a workshop session bye Disha Kaushal through Google Meets on the topic of of “Design thinking, Critical thinking and Innovation design”
Boys Hostel There are seven Boys hostels at present in the Institute. The capacity of boys hostel is 1800 (1044 single seated rooms and 252 triple seated rooms ). Room allotment is done in such a way that students from different parts of country freely intermingle with each other depicting national integration. Geysers and Water coolers with aquaguard on every floor. PCO for STD/Local calls. Books and Stationary shop. 24 hours internet connectivity with 100 Mbps LAN. Guest room. Generator, which in case of power failure provides electricity to the hostels. All night canteen. Magazine and Newspapers are provided. Students club. This is run by students boys hostel. Mess workers are under their control.
Girls Hostel There two Girls hostels at present in the Institute. The capacity of girls hostel is 145. Room allotment is done in such a way that students from different parts of country freely intermingle with each other depicting national integration. Washing machine. PCO inside the hostel. Generator, which in case of power failures provides electricity to the mess and the common room. Provisional goods store in the hostel premises. Four Computers. Intercom line. 24 hours internet connectivity with 100 Mbps LAN. Water cooler and Geysers. Magazine and Newspapers are provided. Two motor pumps installed. Air cooler and Refrigerator. Stereo system. This is run by students in girls hostel. Mess workers are under their control.
Gym The college has Gym facility for the students.
Library The MNNIT Allahabad central library has both - a huge repository of books for references and knowledge assimilation as well as ebooks for or online learning. The library houses more than 1.2 lakh books, 14526 e-journals, and 29508 conference papers with stacks of accessories and reading materials.
Cafeteria The institute offers exceptional very good eating canteen outlets which are hygienic and reasonable in nature and managed by recognised quality outlets such as Amul India Private Limited and Bikanervala food Private Limited.
Auditorium The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminar.

IT Infrastructure The institute has high speed internet facility and high performance computing with web services and email based services for both general and advanced purposes with software packages. It is open 24 hours and 365 days in a year with a 10.5 Gbps internet connectivity across the campus area.
Transport The MNNIT Allahabad transport facility is used by the student to travel to and from within the University Campus as per a time table at every subsidised rate. The students and faculty members will be able to request for drop in and pick up at railway station and bus stand upon early request.
Laboratories Laboratory provides facilities for budding researchers and scholars for carrying out independent research in their areas of interest in each department of study such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and CSE. They are also used for multidisciplinary research across several departments of study.
Convenience Store A Post Office is situated at near to the Colony Gate.
Banks Facilities The MNNIT Allahabad provides a good banking facility on campus with all required amenities and ATM services from two banks namely Vijaya Bank near the CAD/CAM lab and State Bank of India near Yamuna Gate.
