It is inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ whose values were Love, Peace, Brotherhood/Sisterhood, Equality, Joy, and Service. As a minority institution, it continues to enjoy the rights and privileges guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. CSST was founded on 24 April 1887 by Mother Teresa of St Rose of Lima in the town of Ernakulum in Kerala.
Let’s take a moment and delve into the tale of this extraordinary institution pioneered by the birth of an extraordinary human being, Mary Grace. Born in Madras, South India, on 29 January 1858, her radical views and ideology opened up a new and glorious chapter for Indian women. As a woman of substance and perseverance, Mary Grace thought beyond her times and chose to take a leap of faith in the field of education. Her prowess, aptitude, and charismatic persona led to many significant achievements in the field of education. She used learning as a weapon and a tool that enabled girls to become leaders and strong, upright citizens who contributed to the evolution of society.

Students passed in 10+2 exam conducted by the Karnataka Pre-University Education Board or any other examination considered equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission.

- Girls Hostel
The Mount Carmel " Mother Mary Hostel", extends over 2 buildings (UG hostel and PG hostel) and houses 210 students. Students have refectories, reading/TV rooms, gymnasium and Wi-Fi facilities. As a part of the Green Initiatives on campus, the Hostel has solar water heaters and effective solid waste management. - Gym
The college has a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a yoga/ aerobics floor which are used by students and staff. - Library
Mount Carmel College boasts of a state-of-the-art Information and Knowledge Centre which caters to over 7500 students and 250 faculties. The Central library of the college situated on the ground floor of LSCB Block houses over lakh books and journals. It also subscribes to e-resources. - Sports
A good training ground for several national and international sportswomen over the years, Mount Carmel College has an excellent stadium with a well laid track located at a walk able distance from the main campus. On the campus there is a basket ball and throw ball court.
