Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar N.I.T. Post Office Jalandhar (Punjab) -Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar National Institute of Technology or NIT Jalandhar as a university was established in 1987 initially as the “Regional Engineering College” and then Deemed to the status of “National Institute of Technology” by the Government of India in 2002. The university has been declared as the “Institute of National Importance” by the Government of India and the Indian Parliament in 2007. It provides high-quality technical education in several streams of engineering, sciences. NIT Jalandhar has a faculty strength of 208 teaching staff and 4067 students. The campus area of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar National Institute of Technology covers 154 acres. NIT Jalandhar is a co-educational campus with 16 departments and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. The university is mandated by the UGC act and possesses 78th rank in the overall category and 49th rank in the engineering category in NIRF 2021 Rankings. The university secured 52nd rank in NIRF Rankings 2020.
The varsity has several international collaborations with institutes in countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. NIT Jalandhar offers programmes of study such as B.Tech, M.Sc., M.Tech., M.B.A. and Ph.D in several specialisations such as physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science etc. Scores of national and state level entrance exam is considered for admission to courses offered by the university. - Boys Hostel
The NIT Jalandhar hostels are residence halls and are available for the students with a reading room, washing machines, indoor games and internet facilities. In addition, it also has water coolers and water purifiers. There are 10 boys hostels. - Girls Hostel
There are Three Girl’s Hostels. The facilities of reading room, indoor games, washing machines etc. are available in each hostel. Internet facility is provided in most of the hostels. Other facilities like geysers, water purifiers and water coolers are provided in all the hostels. The hostel facility is available to the regular students who are on the rolls of the institute depending upon the availability. The students who wish to stay with their parents or guardians outside the campus for short period may be allowed to do so with the permission of the competent authority. - Gym
The NIT Jalandhar Gymnasium is the physical and fitness Centre available for students with some indoor sports such as table tennis and badminton and they maintain the high standards required for an academic Institution. - Library
The NIT Jalandhar library is a 3 tier building present in the middle of all departments and accessible over an area of 1540 square feet. The library has more than 1.03 lakh books volumes along with CD-ROMs, video cassettes in engineering science and technology. The video library is secured with audio-visual station, TV, multimedia projector, video cassettes. - Sports

The NIT Jalandhar dispensary acts as the main medical facility present in the institute for treatment of different diseases and providing emergency first aid for students. The dispensary is secured with a lab facility to carry out testing and in case of a medical emergency, it has an ambulance to provide 24-hour care to the nearby hospital. - Wifi

NIT Jalandhar banking service has two banks available within the campus such as State Bank of Patiala and Canara Bank. Both of these bank facilities act as regular branches in the campus with function ATMs and they are used for on required banking services for students staff and others.
