TNNLU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Bar Council of India (BCI) and Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in law. The University also has established Centre for Research and Writing, Centre for Competition Law, Centre for labour and Development. TNNLU is 10 kilometres away from District and Sessions Court and other Subordinate Courts. This facilitates easy access to the Bar.

The College has various national and international collaborations.
Candidates must have passed the 10+2 level examination from a recognized board, i.e. CBSE / ISC / State Board or the equivalent, with a minimum of 45% marks scored. They must be below the age of 20 (for unreserved categories) and below the age of 22 for reserved categories. Valid registration to CLAT examination is required.

Hostel: The TNNLU campus has the facilities of a hostel for boys and girls. The hostel is well equipped with academic and recreational facilities. The entire hostel campus is wi-fi enabled. The hostel has the facilities of indoor and outdoor games.

Moot Court Room: The Moot Court Room has the facility for courtroom proceedings. This facility helps students to improve their advocacy skills.

It has the membership for e-resources and has a subscription to national and international peer-reviewed e-journals. Online public access catalogue (OPAC) facility is available to facilitate the online search of the library books with title, author, keyword and subject. DELNET facility is also available for the students.

Sports: TNNLU has indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Indoor games like carrom, table tennis, chess are available in the hostel. The college has a well-furnished football field and cricket fields. It also has a hockey field, handball, volleyball and badminton court. Tournaments in these sports are organised in the institute at the university level. The institute organises annual sports every year in which students of all disciplines take part.
