The short name of the institute is NMIT. The campus of the college is spread over an area of 16 acres of land. NMIT is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with grade A and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology Bangalore is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). As per the NIRF ranking 2021, the college has been ranked at 168th position in the Engineering category, compared to 128th position in the year 2020. The institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belgaum. NMIT offers diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level courses. The courses offered by the institute are diploma, B.E, M.Tech, M.B.A, M.C.A. and P.hd. The courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college also has many national and international collaborations like North Dakota State University (NDSU), Fargo, U.S.A, Moncton University, Canada, University of Michigan, USA, etc.
NMIT is an autonomous institute with a total 340 well-qualified faculty members. The total number of students at the institute at present is 4756. Thus, the student-teacher ratio at NMIT is 14:1. The college provides many facilities for the students, staff and faculty members. Some of them are library, boys hostel, girls hostel, medical/hospital, sports, gym, cafeteria, auditorium, wi-fi, IT infrastructure, laboratories, convenience store, parking facility, bank, etc. The placement of the students is facilitated by the NMIT placement department. The department also provides placement training to the students. NMIT also provides many scholarships like Jindal Merit Scholarship, Prathibha Puraskar scholarship, Kittur Rani Channamma Scholarship, Scholarship provided by Municipal Corporation, etc. The college provides many clubs and committees for the overall growth and development of the students.

The college is located at 6429, NITTE Meenakshi College Road, BSF Campus, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, Karnataka. There are various modes of transport to reach NMIT. One can travel by air, road, or rail to reach the college. The nearest railway station is Yelahanka Junction Railway Station. The distance between the railway station and the college is 6.4 km and would take approximately 15 minutes from cab or auto. The nearest bus stop is Puttenahalli Bus Depot. It is located at a distance of 8 km. Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru is the nearest airport to NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology Bangalore. It is 19.6 km far from the college and would take around 25 minutes from cab or auto.

BE / B.Tech /AMIE in relevant discipline degrees and should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates who are in the SC/ST/Group 1 students should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate.

- Boys Hostel
Rooms are available for twin and triple sharing. NMIT boys hostel facilities include 24X7 power supply, wi-fi, medical facility, gym, outdoor and indoor sports, cooperative stationery store, bank, ATM, eateries, etc. The hostels also have a reading room, TV room, music room and open-air theatre. For the security of the students and the hostels, CCTV cameras are also installed. - Girls Hostel

The hostel rooms are well-furnished and well-ventilated and have uninterrupted supply of water and electricity. The hostels have a reading room and music room. NMIT sports facilities include a hockey ground, cricket pitch, volleyball, basketball, badminton court, multi-purpose track, etc. Indoor games like chess, carrom, badminton are also available. Students are encouraged to participate in various zonal, inter-zonal and varsity level tournaments. The college has also received many accolades and awards. For women and elite sportsmen, specialist coaches are provided. - Cafeteria
