NSS Hindu College, Changanassery, Kottayam District, Kerala-686102, India.NSS Hindu College, Changanacherry, the earliest among the institutions of higher education was established by the Nair Service Society in 1947. Its history, ever since its inception has been a story of quick growth and steady expansion. The college was first affiliated to the University of Travancore and subsequently to the University of Kerala. With the establishment of Mahatma Gandhi University, the College was affiliated to that University. The college is accredited with 'A' Grade by the NAAC on 27th November 2017 .
At its inception the college was housed in the NSS High School building at Perunna. In July 1949 Sri Panampally Govinda Menon, the then Minister for Education, laid the foundation stone of the massive structure which houses the college at present on the extensive piece of land adjoining the NSS Head Quarters. In January 1956 the formal opening of the college building was held with a fortnight long celebrations, inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then Vice-President of India and the college building was declared open by Sri. K.M. Munshi, the then Governor of Uttar Pradesh.
At present the college offers 14 Undergraduate courses and 11 Postgraduate Courses and 3 Add-on courses. There are three approved research centres attached to the Departments of Zoology, Malayalam and Hindi. It is a matter of great pride that the NAAC peer team has observed that the college has great potential to be an autonomous institution.

- Girls Hostel
Two ladies hostels are functioning in the college campus with the Principal as Ex-officio warden. The hostel is providing recreational facilities like television, reading room and occasional cultural programmes during festival days.NSS College Girls’ Hostel Sarasamma, the Resident Warden and K.C. Vijayamma, Matron look after the smooth functioning of the hostel. The hostel has a capacity to accommodate nearly 300 students.NSS Velayudha Mandiram (Girls’ Hostel). - Gym
The college has a Gym facility for the students. The centre is well equipped with a 12station multi gym, squat rack, multipurpose bench, rubberized weight training set, adjustable dumbbell, manual treadmill, pushup stand etc. - LibraryNSSHC Library is a creative partner in teaching, learning, research and extension activities, which contributes to the attainment of institute’s motto “Thamaso ma Jyothirgamaya”. The central library has referencing and lending sections with facilities like Reading rooms, E-Learning room, etc. All Routine Library activities including the OPAC, Circulation and Acquisition have been computerized using an Integrated Library Management Software (KOHA). We also have extension centers in various Departments and University study centre. The department libraries contain books relating to the particular subjects and are managed by The Heads of Department or concerned faculty members. We also have access to electronic resources like INFLIBNET and DELNET.
- Sports
We have a full-fledged Physical Education Department with two faculty members and all the facilities for all major games and a multi-gymnasium for exercise. The College Canteen supplies snacks and meals to the students and staff at concessional rate. Outsourced caterers provide food and refreshments with proper rate contracts. It is monitored by a Canteen committee. - Auditorium
The college provides an Auditorium which acts as a venue for all the common academic and extracurricular activities of the College. - Medical/Hospital

The college has Wi-Fi facility for the students and staff. - IT Infrastructure
The college has got a state of art Computer Lab with LAN link. It has been conceptualised to integrate with college library and departments to enable the college community to get exposed to the various facets of networking and E-learning. Computer literacy programmes for staff and students and various IT courses are offered. Internet facilities are provided in the Computer lab and in the departments to enable Staff and students to get access to the enormous WWW resources. The College computer centre is located in the main block (Room NO: 30) and is fully equipped to cater to the needs of the entire students of the college. It has a total area of about 1000 sq. feet. with a mini classroom and can accommodate about 40 students at a time. At present, there are 17 s including a server in which all are networked. Admission to the computer centre is open to all students. Students are allowed to enter batch wise so that each student gets sufficient time to use the computer. - Laboratories
Language Lab:-The department of English houses a fully fledged Language laboratory. The Language Laboratory is used for language tutorials. These are attended by preparatory courses students and students who voluntarily opt for Remedial English classes. Lessons and exercises are recorded on a weekly basis so that the students are exposed to a variety of listening and speaking drills. This especially benefits students who are deficient in English and also aims at confidence-building for interviews and competitive examinations. The Language Laboratory sessions also include word games, quizzes, extemporary speaking, debates, skits etc. Dr. Sujatha S. is the Co-ordinator of the project. - Parking Facility
