Panakkad Pookoya Thangal Memorial Arts & Science College, Cherur (PPTM College) was started in 2013-14 academic year. It is run by PPTM Yatheem Khana Committee. The Committee aimed at providing the quality and moral education under conducive cultural environment. It wouldbe helpful to uplift the backward sections of the people of this area, who were traditionally kept aloof from the educational field. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut and recognized by the Government of Kerala under self-financing stream. The college offers instructions in five UG programmes under Calicut University Choice Based Credit Semester System (CUCBCSS). The college is situated at the historically important place, Cherur. The area provides a congenial atmosphere for the pursuit of knowledge. It situates 3 kms away from Vengara town, 15 kms from the District Headquarter, Malappuram and Parappanangadi Railway Station; and 16 kms from the Calicut International Airport and Calicut university.
A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
Library The college has a library facility for all the students. Libraries are the bone of any civilized society and the heart of any academic.
Sports The college has sports facilities for all the students. Some people imagine the roar of a crowd at a packed football stadium when they think of college sports, but that's only part of the story. College sports come in a wide variety, including Football, Cricket, Kabaddi, volleyball, Wrestling. And colleges offer the opportunity for every student to take part in sports.
Cafeteria The college has a canteen facility for all the staff and students.
Auditorium The college has an auditorium facility for all the events and seminars. The part of a public building where an audience sits, as distinct from the stage.
Medical/Hospital The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.
IT Infrastructure The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for all the students. There are 30 computers in our labs currently. They are state-of-the-art with multimedia, most of them with 17″ LCD monitors that are easier on the eyes, generate less heat, and consume less power thereby keeping the classroom atmosphere comfortable for children. We use our own LAN with Windows XP for teaching-learning, documentation, and presentations.
Laboratories The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students. A Science lab is a workplace for the conduct of scientific research. It helps students to remember the concepts better. It helps to transfer the experience to other learning situations. It is a facility that provides controlled conditions in which scientific research, experiments, and measurement may be performed.
