Regional Institute of Education, Manasagangothri, Mysuru, Karnataka-570006, IndiaThe Regional Institute of Education Mysuru ( Formerly Regional College of Education ) founded on 1st August, 1963, is one of five such institutions established by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi. The other Institutes are located at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Shillong. The Regional Institutes were started with main the objective of qualitative improvement of school education through innovative pre-service and in-service teacher training programmes and relevant research, development and extension activities.
The Regional Institute of Education, Mysuru has established itself as an institute of repute in the area of school and teacher Education. The institute has endeavored to shoulder the responsibilities and challenges generated by changes in the educational scenario of the country and the southern region. The Institute has been functioning as Regional Institute of Education since 1995, following a major shift in its focus from pre-service Education to in-service Education. The pre-service teacher Education programmes of the institute are affiliated to the University of Mysuru and cater to the needs of south Indian states namely Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Union Territories of Pondicherry and Lakshadweep. A Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS) is attached to each RIE at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Mysuru as a laboratory for trying out innovative practices in school Education and teacher Education. These are also used for practical training for the trainees of the institutes.

- Candidates seeking admission to the program should have passed with at least 50% marks in Bachelor’s Degree and /or in the Master’s Degree in Science/ Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science or Mathematics or in Bachelor’s Degree and /or in the Master’s Degree in Social Science/Humanities of universities of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana or the UT of Lakshadweep / Puducherry are eligible for admissio

- Boys Hostel
The College hostel is well furnished and equipped with a dining hall accommodating more than 200 people and more than 75 (in other hostels) for the mess. The dining halls are equipped with metal tables and chairs with all the modern kitchen appliances in the kitchen. All the hostels have 24 hours RO water supply for drinking purposes and 24 hours tap water is available for domestic purposes. All the hostels have 24 hours of Wi-Fi connectivity for the academic purpose of all the students. The uninterrupted power supply is made available 24 hours and each hostel has a TV room with a dish-connected LED TV. There is a computer room in a hostel with about 10 computers with internet facilities for academic purposes. All hostels have a supply of 2 English daily newspapers. Separate mess facilities are made available for boys with good nutritious food at reasonable rates. 24 hours security is available at each hostel. - Girls Hostel

The College Library serves as a resource center to meet the needs of faculty, students, researchers, and teacher educators of the Southern States of India. It has over 70,000 documents in various disciplines. The main collection of the library is in the field of Education, Teacher Education, Science Education, Social Science Education, and Language Education. The collection comprises Books, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Atlases, Maps, Back Volumes of Journals, Annual Reports, Yearbooks, Seminar & Conference proceedings, Educational Surveys & Reports, M.Ed and Ph.D. dissertations, and NCERT publications. The library is subscribing to several national and international journals both print and online. It also subscribes to important e-resources. The library is fully automated using LIBSYS Software. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is provided for easy searching and retrieval of library documents. - Sports
The College has sports facilities like volleyball, basketball, football, cricket, lawn tennis, and other sports and games facilities. - CafeteriaThe college has a canteen facility for staff and students.
- Auditorium
The College has an assembly hall that can accommodate about 250 people. Conference rooms: There are 4 conference rooms for conducting various meetings and professional development programs. - Medical/Hospital

The College is having state of the art ICT infrastructure with 100 Mbps internet connectivity under National Knowledge Network (NKN) with a digital media studio, and IT-enabled smart classrooms/conference rooms. - Laboratories
The College has an adequate number of laboratories for different subjects. Physics -5, chemistry -9, Botany-2, Zoology-2, Mathematics-1, Computer-4, Geography-1, Language-1, Psychology laboratory and Physical Science/Biological Science methods laboratory. Physics, chemistry, and psychology labs are equipped for postgraduate programmes. However, all other labs are equipped only for undergraduate programmes and this need to be upgraded for postgraduate programmes. - Convenience Store
