The CMIs drawing inspiration from their founding father St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a great visionary, reformer and religious leader of the 19th century, have proven themselves worthy of that heritage in the field of education by establishing institutions of excellence imparting quality education, across the length and breadth of the State, and in various parts of India. At present, the CMIs manage a network of more than 800 Schools, 13 Special Schools, 41 Arts, Science, Commerce & Physical Education Colleges, 10 B.Ed. Colleges, 4 Nursing Colleges, 4 Engineering Colleges, one Medical College, one University, 3 Law Colleges, 6 Research Centres, 7 Technical Institutes, 41 Hostels & Boarding Houses, 17 Cultural Centres, 2 Super Speciality Hospitals and 114 Non-formal Education Centres.
Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous) was established as a result of the indefatigable industry and foresight of the CMI. The various axioms of the insitution maintain the axiomatic spirit of Rajagiri - ‘Relentlessly Towards Excellence’.

Admission to the B.Com Degree Programme shall be open only to candidates who have passed the Plus Two or equivalent examination recognized by M.G. University with Book-Keeping and Accountancy and any two of the following subjects, viz., (1) Commerce, (2) Commercial Correspondence and Commercial Geography, (3) Economics, (4) Life Insurance with Salesmanship, (5) Banking with Secretarial Practice, (6) Business Studies, (7) Mathematics, (8) Computer Science/Computer applications, (9) Informatics

- Boys Hostel
The college provides separate double occupancy hostel facilities for men and women. The college also has a separate hostel for the international exchange students. Apart from this, the college maintains a hostel for the participants of training programmes, seminars, and conferences. The College has a mess run by the Men’s Hostel.
- Girls Hostel
The college has a girl's hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.
- Library
A Library is stocked with the rich collection of information resources suitable to the all kinds of its users. The Library is specialized for Social Work, Social Development, Management, Administration, Computer Application and Library Information Sciences.

The college has a football ground and a basketball court, Table Tennis table, badminton court and a cricket ground for the students to discover and develop their potential in those fields.

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.
