Rev. K.M. Jacob, after whom the college is named, was born in Kottara, Kerala state in March 1881. Rev. Jacob served a record 60 years as Parish Priest and got into Guinness book of records. He was known for his strict discipline, Spartan living and his concern for spiritual and materiel welfare in others. His son, Padmabhusan Dr. Jacob Cherian with his wife Dr. Mary Cherian came to Oddanchatram over 55 years ago and established huge hospitals, more than 50 villages health centers and were instrumental in establishing 19 institutions in health and educational sectors and offered relief services to more than 100 villages around.
Set in a quiet rural location 7kms from oddanchatram on the Dharapuram road, the college came to its existence on 5th July 1997. It is located on a 6.5 acre campus with another 11 acres across the road for further development.
The College is affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University and is recognized by the Government of Tamilnadu. It offers higher education to both men and women who are eligible for admission to the courses offered as per the norms specified by the State Government and Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU). It has been granted 2(f) and 12(B) status by UGC. CBCS was introduced with effect from the academic year 2008. All the programs at Under Graduate and Post Graduate level follow the Semester System.

Boys Hostel The college runs a separate hostel for boys which provide a good environment to continue studies in a caring atmosphere. The hostel functions under the control of the principal. Hostel also has a resident warden to monitor the students’ activities. .The boys hostel ensure disciplined, safe, hygienic and peaceful atmosphere and helps for academic and spiritual growth of students. The hostel mess provides clean and hygienic food. Resident tutors are available in the hostel. It helps the students to clarify their subject doubts. There is a chapel which involves in the spiritual growth of the inmates. The management engages resource persons to talk on moral values regularly. The boys’ hostel also has a separate study room. The hostel has the capacity to accommodate study room
Girls Hostel The college runs a separate hostel for girl students. The hostel has 12 rooms with the capacity to accommodate 4 inmates in each room. The hostel is to provide the students with the necessary amenities to develop an integrated personality, besides providing a calm and spiritual atmosphere for students. The hostel has well furnished rooms, a study hall and prayer room. Hostel students are given chance to celebrate major festivals in the hostel. Hostel day is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year.
Library The college can boast of very well stacked digital library consisting of 30,000 books and 125 journals ranging from English, Tamil, Commerce, Computer Science. The latest books in field of Fashion Technology and Catering Technology are made available to the students. The students are also allowed to use the library during college hours. In order to benefit the students, internet facility has been provided in the library. Students can browse through the online journals that are available. The library is situated in the first floor of the college. This library was established in the year 2006 with 5000 books. Presently, it accommodates 23124 books for the benefit of the students. There are 83 International journals, 115 National journals and 25 magazines in this library. The library functions with LIPS-i-NET software system with barcode scanning facility. The documents in the library are bar-coded for circulation purposes. The students and staff should enroll their roll number in the E-Gate system while entering the library. Open access system is followed in the library which is browser friendly.
Sports The college has the sports facilities for all students.
Cafeteria The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.
Auditorium The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminar.
Medical/Hospital The College has renowned CFCHC hospital is a next-door neighbor. The students are largely benefitted by our Society’s (CEHD) large hospital that provides emergency medical services, professional counseling and rehabilitation.
IT Infrastructure The college has excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.
Transport The College buses cover hundreds of villages around bringing students from far and near.
Laboratories The college has an exclusive English Language Lab with 20 computer terminals and a pioneering language software named Globareena. Every day two batches of students get benefitted with the Lab to learn and undertake tests in the software.
