Inspired by Sree Narayana Guru’s call to “Seek freedom and enlightenment through education”, a few distinguished citizens of Nattika, felt the need to start a College in this backward area. They sought the guidance of Sree Narayana Trusts, Kollam. A meeting presided over by the Late Sri. R. Sankar, held at Ayyanthole, Thrissur, on 15th October 1965 took the decision to establish the College. Consequently, Nattika Sree Narayana College Local Committee was constituted which elected the Late Sri. T. R. Raghavan as President and the Late Adv. N. K. Kuttiraman as Secretary.
The committee proceeded with the endeavour to collect funds, acquire land and property and set up a building for the college.Messrs Elite Fabrics, Thrissur contributed the land worth more than Rs. 1 Lakh. The committee succeeded in collecting the requisite funds within a remarkably short period. The Foundation stone of the building was laid by the Late Sri. R. Sankar in the presence of a large, distinguished gathering on 10th April 1966. The building was completed within the time-limit and affiliation was secured from the University of Kerala. The college was formally inaugurated by the Late Sri. K. Ayyappan (Sahodaran) on 30th June 1967. The college was affiliated to the newly constituted University of Calicut in July 1969.
The college attained the status of a first grade college in Kerala in June 1970 with the commencement of Degree courses in Economics, Commerce, Botany and Zoology. B. Sc. Physics was started in 1978, M. Com in 1979 and B. Sc. Mathematics in 1981. The South-Block was constructed in 1982. B.Sc. Chemistry and M. Sc. Zoology was started in 1983 and, M.Sc. Mathematics in 1984. The construction of the North Block was completed in 1992 and the building was inaugurated by the Late Sri. M. K. Raghavan, the then Gen. Secretary of S. N. Trusts.

A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
Girls Hostel Sree Narayana College has a permanent separate hostel building for the accommodation of girl students on the campus. The Ladies’ Hostel was built with UGC assistance availed of during the X Plan. Situated at a serene atmosphere, the Hostel can provide the students with a calm and peaceful living, which is a pre-requisite for serious academic contemplation. It can accommodate 75 students at a time.
Gym The college has Gym facility for the students.
Library The Library of this college is still the most sought after locus of knowledge. It is centrally situated, in the main building of the college. It has a built-up area of 3000 sq. feet. It consists of the stack room, the reference section, the periodical section, and the reading room. In 2005, all the department libraries were abolished and all the books and journals were brought under the central library.
Sports The college has sports facilities for all students.
Cafeteria The College Canteen provides vegetarian and non-vegetarian food to the staff and students at a reasonable price. The canteen committee monitors the activities in the canteen and makes suggestions for improvement.
Auditorium The Seminar Hall is situated in the South Block of the college. It is well-furnished with a seating capacity of 150. It has all modern audio-visual equipment. All the major academic programs of the college meters in the Seminar Hall. The LCD projector, the computer, and the sound system of the Seminar Hall provide the audience with an exquisite audio-visual experience.
Medical/Hospital The college has health center with first aid facility for the students.
IT Infrastructure The college is well equipped with 120 computers with sufficient lab facilities. Most systems are networked with high-speed LAN computing. Most Computers have licensed software and broadband internet facility with the firewall. Two windows 2008 servers are the backbone of computer labs. The computer labs are helpful to the students to work beyond their college working hours. All department computer labs come under the supervision of a computer center. Many LCD and OHP projectors are used in the departments for effective teaching. Computer center offers training in MS Office for interested final UG students. Laboratories The college has a departmental based laboratory facility for the students.
Convenience Store The Store provides stationery items for the students and the staff. Prescribed textbooks are distributed through the Co-operative Store at a concessional rate. The Co-operative Store functions during the office hours on all working days.
