In recognition of the requirement of the needs of professional education in this rural part of the country and in order to share the burden of the government, the T.M.A.E.’ society has established Shri.Chandrashekhara Swamiji College of Pharmacy in the year 1979 with a D. Pharm. course with intake of 30 students. B.Pharm. course was started in the very next year i.e. in 1980, (This was the fourth oldest institution in the state of Karnataka) and subsequently M.Pharm. course in two specializations (Pharmacology and Pharm. Chemistry) was introduced in 1996 and were affiliated to Gulbarga University and later on to Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences, Bangalore. It is note worthy to mention that this institution was established when there was no/scanty awareness about this course in the nation The institution is recognized by the Pharmacy council of India and All India Council for technical education, New Delhi and more so the college has carved a niche of its own at the national and international level. In addition to this we can see that, students from nuke and corner of the country are studying here and a miniature India in this small rural place, i.e. a symbol of national integration. Because of this institution many stalwarts in the field of Pharmacy have visited and appreciated the efforts of the management and staff in uplifting and popularizing pharmacy education from this rural base.
