St Cyril’s College, the pioneer institution of higher education managed by Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, came into existence in 1981 as a result of the prayers and relentless labour of a group of visionaries and Late Lamented His Holiness Mathews II who saw that social and economic progress of a heterogenous community is possible only through intellectual and spiritual enlightenment. Started in November 1981 as a Junior College affiliated to University of Kerala, the College offers Post Graduate courses in Physics, English and Degree courses in Chemistry, History, English, Economics and Commerce. The College is recognized under section 2(f) and 12(B)of the UGC Act of 1956. It had gained the Minority Status in 2011. In the year 2012 the college was accredited by NAAC with ‘B’ grade.
The College stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation based on love of God and service of man as modelled by Jesus Christ so as to produce intellectually trained, morally upright, socially committed, spiritually inspired young men and women. It endeavours to achieve the integral development of the blessed personality ensuring the possibility of living a fully human existence. The Malankara Orthodox Management is devoted to achieve this target by providing facilities for academic, professional and personal development. The general aim of the college is to provide quality education. The College also ensures the participation of women in the mainstream by giving due importance for their empowerment.
A person, who has passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for the course.
Boys Hostel The college has a boy’s hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.
Girls Hostel The college has a girl's hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.
Gym The college has a Gym facility for the students. It is also working in college, which helps to improve the health standards of the students.
Library The college library is always ready to cater to the needs of the students who want to seek knowledge outside the classroom. A total number of 11452 books, 12 journals, periodicals, newspapers, etc. have been stalked in the library so that the students who are coming from remote places, where there are no libraries, could make use of this opportunity. This library serves as a knowledge repository to the budding creativity of the student community.
Sports The college has sports facilities for all students.
Cafeteria The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.
Auditorium The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. The college has a main auditorium and a Mini auditorium.
Wifi The college has Wi-Fi connectivity in all departments. All classrooms can be connected to these facilities.
IT Infrastructure The college computer lab is run and maintained by the Department of Commerce. At present, there are 12 computers, and Commerce students make use of this facility to learn various modern techniques of accounting.
Laboratories The science departments of the college are equipped with well-functioning laboratories that give rich first-hand experience to the students for practicing the theories they are learning in the classrooms. The labs are working on par with the curriculum designed by the University of Kerala and fulfill the requirements demanded by the syllabus. The Department of English is having a sophisticated IT-enabled language lab with sixteen consoles and amenities. The literature students of the college are given regular practice in the language lab to master the language skills. The students from other departments can also use this facility to overcome language-related inhibitions.
Parking Facility The college has a parking space facility for its faculty, staff, and students.
