St. Joseph’s College of Education, Mysuru, named after St.Joseph, the Patron Saint of the Diocese of Mysore, was established in 1971, by the late Bishop of Mysore, the Most Rev. Dr. Mathias Fernandes and the secretary Rev. Fr. Dennis Noronha on the firm foundation of the motto of “Love, Loyalty and Service”. The college is a Roman Catholic institution & enjoys the status of a religious minority. The college is governed by the Mysore Diocesan Educational Society (MDES), a registered Society which stands for universal values of brotherhood, love, peace, tolerance, cooperation, dignity of every person and preferential love for the poor.

The college has a beautiful ambiance in sylvan surroundings. The college has an excellent academic record as students secure ranks in the university examination. The alumni of the college are serving at several institutions all over the country and abroad. Many are dynamic leaders of their institutions. Many are working in other government sectors.

  • Candidates with at least 50% marks from a recognized university either in Bachelor‘s Degree and/or the Master‘s Degree in Science/Social Science/Humanity/Commerce/ Management.

    The College Library is a center of acquiring, processing, preserving, and disseminating information to the user community with the motto of empowering knowledge. St.Joseph’s library has well-trained staff and an automated library system to enrich the user community with a wide range of academic resources such as books, periodicals, online periodicals, databases, back volumes, CDs/DVDs, project reports, audio/video cassettes, and question bank. The library collection includes 16,713 books, both for borrowing and reference. Free internet access is allowed to students and faculty of the college. The college is a member of the INFLIBNET-NLIST Programme.
