St. Thomas Training College (STTC) was established by the Mar Thoma Church Educational Society (MTCES) in June 2005 which prepares students for the B.Ed Degree Exam. It is affiliated to the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under the Affiliation No: FKL/SEC/N/247/SRO/NCTE/2004-2005/762 dt.23-2-05. It is situated at St. Thomas Nagar, Mukkolakkal, a sprawling educational campus in sylvan surroundings on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram city, 13 kms from the city. We give emphasis not only for academics but also for co-curricular activities for the all-round development of each student. The college has a team of well-qualified and dedicated teachers. It has 3 sister institutions-St. Thomas Residential School, St. Thomas Central School and St. Thomas Higher Secondary School.
STTC offers five optional subjects (English, Mathematics, Natural Science, Physical Science and Social Science) for B.Ed with 100 seats, 20 being in each subject. There are ten teaching staffs including the Principal and two part-time teachers.
Boys Hostel The college has a boys’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.
Girls Hostel The college has a girl's hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.
Gym The college is having an indoor gymnasium with all facilities for indoor games, recreation exercises, and aerobics. Three hours per week is set apart for recreation activities. We also give students training in Yoga, stress reduction exercises, etc.
Library The college has the STTC library that challenges the mind of the reader. Apart from books centering around the B.Ed curriculum, the library boos of a good collection of Research books. Since the college has bagged a much sought-after ICSSR Project, the good collection of books on Educational Technology available in the library is aptly utilized. Environmental Education which rose into prominence in the recent past is tackled with ease by the trainees with a commendable collection of books on the same. Foreign books catering to different facets of education are well stocked in the library. The library is planning for a Book Bank meant for financially backward students, which would come into effect from the academic year 2007-2008. A commendable gesture on the part of the outgoing students in the form of donations of books further enriches the existing collection.
Sports The college has athletic and sporting events culminating in the Annual Athletic meet in which the students participate with great enthusiasm and true sportsman spirit. The opening and closing functions of this meet are colorful events that provide a feast to the eyes.
Cafeteria The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.
Auditorium The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.
IT Infrastructure The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.
Transport An efficient transportation system operates to take the students to and from the school punctually and comfortably. Buses ply 22 different routes, making St. Thomas accessible to students from every part of the city and its suburbs.
Laboratories The college has a Psychology Lab (possessing requirements of B.Ed curriculum) We have a fully-fledged and functional Mathematics laboratory with Mathematical equipment for conducting practical programs in Mathematics Education.
Alumni Associations The college has a good networking for an alumni association.
Guest Room The college has guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.
Banks Facilities The college has An extension counter of the Canara Bank situated on the campus that facilitates all types of monetary transactions. Payment of tuition fees, conveyance charges, exam fees, and other deposits can be made through this bank which facilitates financial transactions on all weekdays from 9 am to 1 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 11 am.
