It is also known as TIET Patiala. The campus of Thapar University is spread over 250 acres of land. Thapar University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). NAAC has accredited the university with an 'A'+' grade. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is ranked 23rd as per the NIRF 2021 Ranking for the engineering category and 45th in the overall category. Further, the varsity has been ranked 26th in the NIRF Ranking 2021 in the university category, 42nd in the management category and 38th in the research category.
TIET Patiala offers several undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated courses. A total of 56 programmes are offered by the university. JEE Main and GATE scores are accepted respectively for admission to B.E and M.Tech. courses by the university. The varsity has collaborations with numerous national and international institutes. The university is situated in Bhadson Road, Adarsh Nagar, Prem Nagar, Patiala, Punjab. The campus, located in the heart of Patiala, is well-connected to other states across India by air, road, and railway. The nearest railway station from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is the Patiala Railway Station, nearly 5 km away from the university. The closest airport is Chandigarh International Airport, 62.5 km away from the varsity. Major air service providers offer flights from the airport.
