- Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects from Tamil Nadu Board or equivalent with at least 50%.
- The eligibility for admission to second year B.E./B.Tech under lateral entry requires either a Diploma or B.Sc (with Maths in 10+2). Where 55% is required by general category candidates and 50% for the reserved category.

- Hostel: VCET has separate hostels for boys and girls. Warden is available to take care of all the activities of the students.
