Shivalik College of Pharmacy, Nangal is providing advanced technical education in the field of Pharmacy to the rural youth of this area since 1983. The college is affiliated to PTU and approved by AICTE New Delhi, and also approved by Govt of Punjab. The college is being financed by Municipal Council Nangal and managed by Managing Committee constituted by the Honble Governor of Punjab. The Director & Secretary, Local Govt. of Punjab is the Chairman of the Managing Committee.
The institute is located in a peaceful town of Nangal on the banks of River Satluj.
The Primary objectives of this college are to offer instructions in pharmaceutical and applied sciences to meet the needs of the health care system and also to provide opportunities for job oriented training to rural youths to eliminate unemployment in the rural backward areas. The college also aims to create awareness in the rural population about the use of indigenous system of medicine in bringing health, happiness & Prosperity and to develop close collaboration with pharmaceutical industries and business houses and health care system of the government through exchange of personnel, ideas and to undertake consultancy work and public welfare oriented projects .
The Managing Committee is constituted by the Honble Governor of Punjab as per A.I.C.T.E.norms (All India Council For Technical Education, New-Delhi) and the Director, Local Govt. Punjab is the Chairman of the Managing Committee.
The College also has a Academic Advisory body constituted as per the guidelines of Punjab Technical University (PTU). The college has well-qualified and experienced faculty members who are actively engaged in teaching and research. The faculty members have published more than 105 research papers in the national and International journals of repute during the last 5 years. The college strives to update the knowledge and skills of its faculty and students, and for this college has on its experts panel a galaxy of reputed academicians and professionals from pharmaceutical industries and universities who visit the college regularly to share the latest advancements and technology with our students and faculty. The college supports the ethical research in the diverse areas of pharmaceutical sciences and to achieve this mechanisms such as CPCSEA approved Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) are in place.
